Several Sydney suburbs have been ordered to evacuate with heavy rain expected to cause dangerous, widespread flooding overnight.
Deputy Premier Paul Toole held an urgent press conference on Wednesday night putting the Hawkesbury-Nepean catchment on high alert. The SES later ordered parts of Ebenezer and other Hawkesbury towns to leave by 11pm (full list below). Residents of Warwick Farm, Chipping Norton, Moorebank and Milperra were warned to evacuate before 3am on Thursday.
It comes as SES crews responded to hundreds of calls for help, and a number of Sydney flood rescues on Wednesday.
Four people have now died in the state's flood disaster, with authorities recently confirming a man in his 70s was discovered inside a home in South Lismore.
SES updates are being distributed via the organisation's Facebook and Twitter feeds as the NSW SES website is experiencing technical problems.
