The estranged wife of wanted property developer Jean Nassif has revealed a struggle she is facing alone as a “single parent”, as she reverts to her maiden name and embarks on a new life.

In a lengthy post on her social media account, Nisserine “Nissy” Nassif, who now goes by the name Nissy Matta, explained why she chose to support ADHD Australia in her recent appearance on a reality television show.

Nissy was among a cast of 12 ‘everyday people’ selected to appear on Adventure All Stars TV - a travel series with a philanthropic approach where contestants raise money for charity.

“I discovered ADHD through my son Khazen who always showed signs of hyperactivity, lack of focus, difficulties in concentration and many more,” she wrote.

“For many years, I thought it was a typical boy behaviour and disregarded all the signs and red flags.”

She went on to say it takes a team to support children with ADHD from occupational therapists to psychologists and paediatricians, and that she was well aware of the pressure it places on families.

“It is very stressful as a parent to make such a heartbreaking discovery and it is even more stressful to provide them with the necessary therapeutical and medical support.

“If you have been down this road as a single parent many of us have. It has been a very stressful and difficult journey for me dealing with it alone.

“Just do what you can, as much as you can and trust that your child will make an incredible adult.”

The mother-of-three was pictured competing in different activities in the Whitsundays earlier this month when filming took place.

“One of the main reasons I filmed for Adventure All Stars TV is to support and raise awareness for ADHD Australia. I believe there should be more awareness and understanding about the nature of the issue, more specifically for parents and carers of minors,” Nissy wrote.

Meanwhile, Nissy no longer features on the website of the charity Wiping Tears she founded alongside Nassif in 2019.

Wiping Tears is a non-profit charity that was set up by the Nassif’s to provide “immediate financial assistance to families who are experiencing disadvantages due to illnesses or social injustice”.

She was previously listed as the charity’s “CEO and director”, but on Thursday there was no mention of her on the website, instead just listing Nassif as its founder, and his daughters among the five committee members.
