A massive fire has torn through a factory in Sydney’s southwest, with police now treating the site as a crime scene as investigators work to determine what sparked the blaze.

Emergency services were called to the commercial property on Huntsmore Rd at Airds, near Minto, just before 11pm on Monday, following reports that wooden pallets were alight in the factory’s storage yard.

Firefighters arrived to find flames tearing through the yard and large volumes of goods already engulfed.

Crews worked quickly to contain the blaze, but the inferno caused significant damage before it was brought under control.
