Shocking video taken by terrified shoppers captured the moment a 55-year-old man was allegedly stabbed inside a busy shopping centre in Bankstown.
A man has been charged over an alleged stabbing in front of frightened customers at a busy shopping centre in Sydney’s southwest.
Shocking video taken captured the moment a 55-year-old man was allegedly knifed at Bankstown Central about 2.30pm on Saturday.
When emergency services arrived, they found him with stab wounds to his torso.
Footage obtained by The Daily Telegraph appears to show three men involved in an altercation as shoppers moved out of the way.
At one point, another man could be seen holding a chair in an attempt to break up the dispute.
In the aftermath, one of the men involved in the fracas was left lying on the floor, with a shopping centre security guard and members of the public tending to him.
Paramedics treated him at the scene before taking him to hospital in a stable condition with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.
A short time later, a 27-year-old man was arrested nearby and taken to Bankstown Police Station, where he was charged with wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and having custody of a knife in a public place.
He was refused bail and is set to face court on Monday.
