A Liberal Party truck has crashed at a voting booth in Sydney’s north-west on the eve of pre-polling opening for the federal election.

Photos provided to The Daily Telegraph show the vehicle wedged under the entrance of the Quakers Hill Community Centre on Monday. A brick wall appears to have also been tipped over.

The side of the truck carried an advertisement for Rattan Virk, the Liberal candidate for Greenway.

The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) confirmed the booth “will not open on Tuesday as a result of damage to the building”.

“The AEC is assessing the damage to this facility and will make a decision about whether the facility can be used or will need to be relocated in the coming days,” the AEC said.

In a statement, a Liberal Party spokesman said the truck had been “delivering materials” to the Quakers Hill Community Centre.

“We sincerely regret any inconvenience this has caused for the local community,” he said.
