A man who had recently moved into a Central Coast motel got the fright of his life when men he had recently befriended threatened to “clip him” after knocking him unconscious.

Kerrin Thomos Allan, 32, pleaded guilty in the Gosford District Court on Wednesday to charges of robbery in company and kidnapping in company.

An agreed statement of facts said the victim had moved into a unit at the Strathavon Resort on Boyce Ave, Wyong, on February 25, 2024 and had made friends with some of the residents.

Matthew Drivilas, 40, a co-accused, was living in a unit at the resort and regularly saw the victim walking his dog around the complex.

On March 21, 2024, Drivilas, Allan and another unknown man approached the victim while he was working on a car.

The facts said that all four men had struck up a friendly conversation, and at one point, the victim had turned back towards the car with his back facing the trio.

As he did so, Drivilas struck him on the back of the head, knocking him unconscious. Drivilas held his right hand over the victim’s mouth and forced him towards his unit while Allan and the unknown co-offender were also present.

“The victim started screaming, but Drivilas tightened his grip over the victim’s mouth and said, ‘If you don’t shut up it will be worse,’” the facts stated.

Once they reached the unit, Drivilas threw the victim onto the bed and punched him in the face multiple times, saying, “Shut up, stop crying or you’ll make this worse. If you don’t shut up, I’ll clip you.”

The victim understood “clip” to mean he would shoot him, and curled up in a ball at the head of the bed to protect himself from the punches.

Drivilas then told the victim he was armed and forced him to unlock his phone and transfer $52 to his account.

Allan was conveyed to Wyong Police Station.

He then told Allan to take everything belonging to the victim, including a wallet, an Xbox One, a bottle of Jack Daniels, and $40 in cash.

Drivilas remained in the unit and told the victim to wash his face and wait 10 minutes before doing anything.

He said, “If you go to the cops, I’ll kill you,” and slapped him across the face one last time before leaving.

Allan was arrested on 26 March 2024, while Drivilas was arrested two days later.

Drivilas was sentenced to six years and three months in jail, with a non-parole period of four years.

Allan will be sentenced at a later date.
