Jordan Finlayson: Beauty and the Geek star, ex-NRL cheerleader to enter full-time rehab after release

The fall from grace of a reality TV star was laid bare in court as the magistrate said she hoped full-time rehabilitation could help turn her life around after she stole ID information while ‘entertaining’ at a bucks party.

The fall from grace of a former reality TV star was laid bare in court today with the ex-NRL cheerleader and Beauty and the Geek contestant expected to attend full-time rehabilitation for drug use when released from custody.

Jordan Finlayson, 31, was found by police with the driver's licences and debit cards of three men at her Botany home in February. She was swiftly arrested and has remained behind bars while the charges progressed through court.

NewsLocal previously reported how the theft of ID information took place while Finlayson was “entertaining” as a waitress at a bucks party.

Finlayson pleaded guilty to possessing identity information to commit an indictable offence and was convicted and sentenced on Wednesday to a 12-month community corrections order.

The former reality TV star will remain in custody pending the result of a parole hearing, which the court heard could be as soon as next week.

She was sentenced in April 2020 to two years and three months in jail for drug-related offences, but was granted parole last September after serving 15 months, before returning to custody following the recent arrest.

The former model and TV star appeared via videolink from jail for her sentencing at Downing Centre Local Court where Magistrate Alison Viney handed down her judgment.

“This is not a trifling offence, it (stealing IDs) is incredibly disruptive to someone’s life and a nightmare situation,” she said.

Finlayson was convicted for possessing the stolen IDs and debit cards, not for using them – but was scolded for instigating the situation.

Magistrate Viney said she hoped Finlayson would take a more “successful path forward” as would attend a full-time residential rehabilitation facility when released.

“I sincerely hope once in rehab your path forward is a much more successful one,” she said.

“What you make of this opportunity is now in your own hands – make sure you put it to good use.”

Finlayson remains in custody while she awaits the outcome of an imminent parole hearing.
