A 13-year-old boy has been left without his father after he died following a fast-moving and severe infection without warning aged just 44.
Llandilo father Jason Ryan died unexpectedly on Tuesday, leaving his heartbroken family and friends to rally around his son Cyrus and partner Anice Thomas.
“His departure has left a hole in the hearts of everyone who knew him – especially his beloved 13-year-old son, Cyrus, and beautiful partner Anice who now face an unthinkable future without him,’’ loved ones stated on GoFundMe.
The crowd-fundraising page, which aims to raise $13,000 to support Cyrus’ education, paid tribute to Jay as a devoted father, who adored Cyrus and loved watching him play football each week.
“Jay and Cyrus were best mates,’’ it stated.
“They would often go to Eastern Creek and watch the car racing together, they also loved watching the Wests Tigers play each week, Jay was a big tigers fan.
“The two of them just loved hanging out playing games and just chilling having a one-on-one father and son chat.’’
Fundraiser organisers have requested donors – who have so far generously donated almost $7000 – to help Anice with funeral costs, lost income and the ongoing needs of raising a young son.
“While grieving the unimaginable, she’s also facing the financial reality of funeral costs, lost income and the ongoing needs of raising a young son,’’ the GoFundMe stated.
“We’re reaching out to our community – to friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers – to ask for your help.
“Helping Anice cover essential living costs during this incredibly difficult time, that no family should ever have to endure.’’
