Inmate who allegedly escaped Cooma jail charged after overnight police manhunt
A 28-year-old man who allegedly escaped from a correctional facility in Cooma has been charged by officers after a late night manhunt.

A man who police say escaped from a correctional facility in Cooma has been charged following an overnight manhunt in the state’s south.
Emergency services were called to the jail about 2.30pm on Tuesday after reports that 28-year-old inmate Dillon Mitcherson had escaped.
Officers launched an operation to locate Mitcherson, conducting inquiries throughout the region.
Following extensive investigations, Mitcherson was located and arrested just after midnight on Wednesday at a service station on Sharp St in Cooma.
He was taken to Cooma Police Station where he was charged with inmate escape/attempt to escape form lawful custody and goods in personal custody suspected of being stolen not motor vehicle.
The man was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Local Court 3 on Wednesday.
