How to see the Hunter’s Moon supermoon in Sydney tonight

Tonight is your chance to spot the brightest full moon of the year, known as the Hunter’s Moon.
The moon will be at its peak at 10.26pm and is the third of four consecutive supermoons, following the Harvest moon on September 18.
The fourth and final supermoon of the year is forecast to occur on November 15.
Why is it called the Hunter’s Moon?
The term ‘Hunter’s Moon’ was first seen in records from 1710 and indicated that the full moon following a Harvest Moon was an ideal time to hunt, according to NASA.
When can we see this supermoon?
The Hunter’s Moon will rise at 6.59pm and will be at its peak at 10.26pm.
Where can we spot it?
Illumination is forecast to be at nearly 100 per cent with no rain until Friday, October 18, so any clear view of the moon in Sydney will be a good place to check it out.
Sydney Observatory’s curator and astronomer Andrew Jacob says that as it rises, the moon will appear “larger near the horizon”.
What is the astrological impact of tonight’s supermoon?
According to astrologer Oscar Cainer, tonight is the dissection of the alignment between the sun and moon.
“The cosmos focuses our attention on making the most of our relationships,” he said.
