Police are desperately searching for a car which has driven off a wharf and into the water on The Central Coast, with the driver of the vehicle still inside.
The car, believed to be a small green SUV, is understood to have run off the wharf at The Boulevard in Woy Woy, before crashing into the Woy Woy channel.
The Boulevard is one of the main thoroughfares and retail centres in Woy Woy, with pubs and local restaurants lining the streets around the wharf.
Police were called to the incident just before 11am today, and officers are now searching for the submerged car with the help of Marine Area Command, NSW Maritime and NSW Ambulance.
Based on what witnesses have told police it’s understood a male driver was the only person inside the SUV when it drove off the wharf.
Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
