A convicted killer who served time for manslaughter for his role in the brutal stabbing of a father of seven, has pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a child.

Billy Krey, 27, pleaded guilty on Thursday in Wyong Local Court via video link to intentionally sexually touching a child and possessing child abuse material.

Krey sexually assaulted a child in 2024, with court documents revealing he touched the victim’s genitalia and buttocks over their clothing.

The following evening, the victim disclosed the incident, and Krey was arrested and taken to Gosford police station.

Police also seized Krey’s phone, and he participated in an electronically recorded interview.

During the interview, he stated that before the alleged incident, he had consumed three Jim Beam and Cokes, approximately 15-30 minutes apart, and felt “a little bit” drunk because he “hadn’t drank in a while”.

Police subsequently examined Krey’s mobile phone and located two images that fell within the Australian Child Abuse Categorisation Schema.

One image depicted a child in a sexualised pose, with underwear showing, sitting outdoors on a chair with their legs spread open.

Billy Krey pleaded guilty to a number of charges at the Wyong local court.

The second image was classified as a fake image, as the face appeared to be that of a child around 12 years old, but the breasts were developed.

He will be sentenced in the District Court on the charges at a later date.

On 15 July 2017, Krey killed a father-of-seven in broad daylight after fighting with his mother over a $50 note.

Krey was 19 when he stabbed Ioakima Sini multiple times as horrified neighbours watched on in the western Sydney suburb of Whalan.

He was found not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter in a judge-alone trial.

The brutal killing, which robbed a family of a loving father and grandfather, was directly related to mental conditions arising from Krey’s difficult childhood, the court heard.

In July 2021, NSW Supreme Court Justice Mark Ierace sentenced Krey to 11 years’ imprisonment with a non-parole period of six years and six months over the “explosive, random” attack.

He was eligible for parole on 14 January 2024.
