Coffs Harbour’s Plantation Hotel set for exciting revamp

A new chapter for the beloved Plantation Hotel on the Coffs Coast is just one step closer as the council considers an application for a $2.5mil partial demolition and renovation. Here’s what’s planned.

A new chapter for the beloved Plantation Hotel is just one step closer as the council considers an application for a $2.5mil partial demolition and renovation.

The proposed changes are a major investment in the venue’s future, and will modernise the classic piece of Coffs Harbour history while keeping some of its original charm.

The local haunt was first established in February 1955, with the anticipated reboot announcement shortly after its 70th year in the community.

Plans include a remodelled sports bar, main bar kitchen, smoker’s area and servery, a beer garden adjacent to the playground, and a car park with 16 spaces.

The development application before the City of Coffs Harbour covers dual street frontages including a 48m frontage to Grafton St and 48m to Cox Lane in the central business district.

The DA involves demolishing the ground and upper level along with the roof at the site on 88 Grafton Street on the Pacific Highway.

The plans have kept the existing building height and land use of the existing building consistent.

Documents currently under review include a statement of environmental effects and a waste management plan.

Revamp or not, the much loved Plantation Hotel will remain one of the family-friendliest places to snag yourself a chicken schnitty or a schooner.
