A Central Tablelands man who police will allege “breached his reptile license” was coiled up by cops after a raid allegedly uncovered more than 100 snakes, drugs and guns.

The NSW Police raids undertaken by officers from the Chifley Police District happened on Wednesday at Kelso and Eglington.

A 50-year-old man was arrested at one of the addresses after inquiries led police to believe the man allegedly sold cannabis from a home the day prior.

At 6.30am on Wednesday, police searched a Bonner Street, Kelso home and allegedly uncovered 300g of cannabis, a mobile phone and five prohibited knives.

Police then raided a shed at Eleven Mile Drive, Eglinton, where they allegedly located and seized eight replica firearms.

Officers, with the assistance of a NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water investigator, also located and seized more than 100 snakes at the two properties.

The man was charged with not keeping firearms safely – pistol, possessing more than three unregistered firearms with one item being a prohibited pistol, using a prohibited weapon without a permit and supplying a drug to a child under 16.

On top of the charges, police will allege in court the man breached his reptile licence.

He was refused bail to appear at Bathurst Local Court on Thursday.
