‘Beast mode’: Shock Tik-Tok shows fisherman’s epic shark catch at Sydney Harbour

A day of fishing on Sydney Harbour turned into an extreme sport with plenty on the line — including an enormous 2.5 metre bullshark. SEE THE VIDEO

Bull Shark caught in Sydney Harbour

Two Sydney fishermen caught more than they were bargaining for when they pulled an enormous 2.5-metre bull shark out of the water on a recent fishing excursion at Birchgrove in the city’s inner west.

23-year-old Hassan Alameri and his friend were using eel strips while fishing at Birchgrove Ferry wharf when the shark took hold and seemingly chased the pair out of the water.

In a short clip posted to TikTok the two men can be seen engaging in an epic tussle between man and beast, as they pull the hefty, thrashing shark by its tail back into the water.

The men were not afraid to get up close and personal with the shark, even prising open its jaws to give viewers a brief glimpse of its razor-sharp teeth.

Mr Alameri, who goes by the Instagram and TikTok handel @huss—fisho says he’s caught over ten bull sharks in Sydney, and his latest catch as seen on TikTok is his ‘third-biggest’ — while he doesn’t know the exact measurements of the animal he says ‘it was pretty darn heavy’ and estimates it was around two and a half metres long.

“It’s such an adrenaline rush seeing such a big creature come out, it’s quite the fight too, I wasn’t quite ready for it.”

Mr Alameri also said it was ‘crucial’ to emphasise the importance of catching and releasing the creatures since the large increase of fishermen in Sydney meant more of the predators were being reeled in than ever.

“For us recreational fisherman we catch and release, take a photo then release as safely as possible”.

“You can see in the video that the shark is always in the water, it always has water running over its gills, it was on the bank for a maximum two to three minutes. It’s important not to play around with these animals.”

It comes as just months ago a stunning video showing a teenage angler hooking a bull shark in the harbour went viral, with overseas viewers shocked that Sydney Harbour is inhabited by the vicious-looking beasts.
