Australian schools rugby best players, every award winner, top schools, results, Australian squads 2024 wrap

The Australian Schools rugby championships threw up a clear winner in the battle between NSW and Queensland’s rising stars.Top schools, players, squads, every award winner. 2024 WRAP.

NSW players dominated the Australian schools rugby championships, the new national squads named and also boasted the best players in the finals in a major show of power for the state.

In another great sign for the future, NSW has double the amount of athletes in the New Australian school boys squad than any other state after dominating the competition with a cleansweep of grand final victories.

In all, 14 NSW players have been named along with seven from Queensland and one each from the ACT and Victoria in the Australian boys schools squads.

Three NSW players were also standouts in the grand finals to secure the much coveted RUPA award.

It was an expected reward for St Augustine’s Charlie Blank from NSW 2, Chanel Williams from Matraville sports high and Annicka McCarthy from Hunters Sports High with the trio in winning sides in their respective deciders.

Blank and his NSW 2 side beat last years winners, NSW Juniors, 25-24, in a cliff hanger.

McCarthy and her NSW 1 teammates beat Queensland White 25-5 in the Under 16s girls sevens comp while Williams and her NSW 1 side were victorious in the Under 18s with their 19-10 win.

Blank was also named in the Australian schools team at the conclusion of the tournament.

Chanel Williams is a Year 12 student, her schools vice-captain and part of the Australian youth 7s squad.

Both she and McCarthy were also named in the Australian merit squads.

The girls U18s merit squad is made up six players from both NSW and Queensland.

The U16s girls merit squad has six players from NSW and five from Queensland.

the girls sevens competition, Central Coast High and Hunter Sports High School were the top producers of players in the 16s and 18s Australian merit squads, with two players from both.

Sunshine Coast Grammar was the top performer in respect to the Australian schoolboy squad with Nate Hepi, Zac Nichol, Blake Miller and Saxon Thompson al making the cut.

Shore has three players in the Australian squad to be top NSW school with Ed Baxter, Jai Callaghan and Felix Harvison.

St Augustine’s on Sydney’s Northern beaches have two representatives in Cameron Paull and Charlie Blank.
