An Australian man has died in Bali after he crashed his motorcycle and suffered severe head injuries.
Thomas James Cossins, 30, from NSW, was travelling at “high speeds” on a motorcycle in Bali’s Sukasada District on Friday at 8.15am local time, Buleleng Police confirmed.
He was travelling on a road connecting Denpasar to Buleleng in Bali’s north when he lost control of his motorbike and hit a sharp turn in the road in Gitgit Village, Buleleng Regency.
He then hit a concrete road divider and was crushed by the motorbike.
Several local residents stopped to helped him by calling an ambulance and the police.
Buleleng Police spokesperson Gede Darma Diatmika said: “The motorbike can not be controlled, and in the sharp turn, he hit the concrete on the roadside.
“The motorbike crushed the victim’s body.”
There were no other vehicles involved in the crash and he died at the scene. The weather was also clear and not a factor in the crash.
He was later taken to Parama Sidhi Singaraja Hospital.
Head of Traffic Unit of Buleleng Police, AKP Bachtiar Arifin said police are still investigating the incident. He said the victim was allegedly driving at high speed.
He was also understood to be wearing a complete racing suit at the time of the accident.
“The victim’s motorcycle then hit the road divider on the left. The victim and his motorcycle were then thrown into the ditch,” he said.
