A police officer from Sydney’s southwest has been charged as part of an investigation by detectives looking into restricted information being passed to criminal network.

Senior constable Nineb Haroon was on Monday charged with five counts of accessing restricted data on internal NSW Police systems.

The 30-year-old, who worked in the city’s Southwest Metropolitan Region, was charged by detectives in Strike Force Chillawong, which investigates reports of restricted police information being passed to the underworld.

Police sources said Haroon is not alleged to have passed the information on to any criminal networks, but is accused of simply accessing it.

In a statement, a NSW Police spokesperson said Haroon is suspended without pay and his employment status is under review.

NSW District Court staffer Emma Khoury has been charged.

Strike Force Chillawong detectives, attached to the Professional Standards Command, previously charged a NSW District Court staffer for also allegedly sharing restricted information.

Emma Khoury allegedly accessed 56 people’s information, including crime boss Bilal Haouchar and NRL players Addin Fonua-Blake and Manase Fainu.

Khoury was in February last year charged with one count of misconduct in public office and 56 counts of accessing restricted data.

Khoury was granted bail by police to report to Campsie police three times a week, avoid any international departure points and to not leave NSW without advising the officer in charge.

She is also forbidden to associate with or contact any Department of Communities and Justice staff other than detectives attached to her case.

Despite both cases being as a result of investigations by Strike Force Chillawong, it is understood Haroon and Khoury are not alleged to be connected in anyway.

Haroon was granted police bail and is expected to face Fairfield Local Court for a first appearance on Wednesday, April 9.

Khoury is next due in court on Wednesday, October 15 and is yet to enter a plea.
