Youths face assault charges over alleged Katherine cafe robbery
Two males youths, aged 18 and 14 have been arrested in relation to two incidents of aggravated robbery and burglary at a Katherine café late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning.

Two males youths, aged 18 and 14 have been arrested and face charges in relation to two incidents of aggravated robbery and burglary at a Katherine café late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning.
Police said that around 8:40pm on July 15, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received reports of several people unlawfully entering a café on Katherine Terrace, before leaving with various allegedly stolen food and drink items.
Police said the following morning, two males entered the same cafe and allegedly assaulted staff inside, before fleeing from the location allegedly with stolen food and drink items.
Two witnesses stopped to render assistance and confronted the two males before they were allegedly assaulted in the process.
Police said with the assistance of the two witnesses, they arrested an 18-year-old male a short time later. Later in the day, members from the Katherine Criminal Investigation Branch and Strike Force Cerberus located and arrested a 14-year-old male youth.
The 14-year-old was charged with:
• Aggravated Robbery
• Aggravated Burglary
• Assault Worker
He was remanded to appear before court Friday July 18.
The 18-year-old male was charged with:
• Aggravated Robbery
• Aggravated Burglary
• Recruitment of a Child
• Assault Worker
He was remanded to appear before Katherine Local Court on 21 July 2025.
The Katherine Criminal Investigation Branch and Strike Force Cerberus have carriage of the two incidents.
