VIRGIN Australia is launching a new Sydney to Darwin service with seasonal daily flights from July.
Darwin International Airport chief executive officer Tony Edmondstone said the announcement is another boost for the Territory.
Mr Edmondstone said as well as bringing more people to the Territory it provides additional opportunities for Territorians to fly to Sydney, a key holiday and business destination.
The service is part of a broader boost to domestic routes that will see more than 700 additional flights added to its weekly schedule by October this year.
“Airport Development Group is delighted to support this announcement by offering three flight and accommodation packages for two people that will give six lucky Territorians the opportunity to win free return flights with Virgin from Darwin to Sydney,” Mr Edmondstone said.
“Along with this will be two nights accommodation in Sydney.
“We will announce details of the competition shortly.”
Virgin Australia Group chief executive officer Jayne Hrdlicka said on top of the 370 cabin crew roles announced last month, the boost to the airline’s domestic routes will create jobs for at least 250 new team members across its operational and corporate workforce
