A man armed with a knife attempted to rob a service station in Darwin overnight but was forced to flee empty handed when the demands were rejected.

POLICE are urging anyone with information to come forward after an attempted armed robbery in Malak overnight, which left the would-be thief empty-handed.

The situation unfolded at around 10pm last night at the Puma service station.

According to NT Police, a person entered the servo allegedly armed with a knife and stick and demanded money from the cashier.

After the demands were rejected, the offender fled empty-handed.

Investigations are continuing, and witnesses or anyone with information is being urged to contact NT Police on 131444.
