Police say a disturbance involving edged and blunt weapons are linked to a vehicle collision which hospitalised four people.

Six people have been arrested after a vehicle collided with a group of pedestrians.

Just before 6am, police responded to reports of disturbances of people armed with blunt and edged weapons in the vicinity of Alice Springs and Ciccone.

Attending officers located four people near Schwarz Crescent who had sustained injuries.

All four victims were taken to Alice Springs hospital, with one having sustained serious injuries.

Other officers pursued a motor vehicle from nearby to south of The Gap where six occupants were stopped and arrested.

The occupants remain in police custody.

Commander James Gray-Spence said the armed person reports were linked to the vehicle collision.

“This incident is now under investigation by detectives from Regional Investigations, supported by the Southern Major Crash Unit,” he said.

“Our early information indicates the initial disturbance and armed person reports are linked to a subsequent collision between a vehicle and people on foot.

“There is no residual risk to members of the public and anyone who has information in relation to this incident is urged to contact police on 131 44 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”

Earthquake strikes outside remote Territory outback town

A magnitude three earthquake has struck outside the tiny Territory outback town of Tennant Creek.

The quake struck at Warumungu, 20km south of the town about 11.10am on Thursday at a depth of 10km.

There are no reports of damage from the relatively minor tremor.

Man allegedly rams house in domestic violence attack

A man who allegedly rammed a car into an Alice Springs home in a domestic violence attack has handed himself in to police.

At 11.45am on Sunday police received reports that a 24-year-old man had allegedly assaulted a 22-year-old woman while both were inside a car parked at the Flynn Dr property in Gillen.

When she got out of the car and attempted to enter the home, the man allegedly drove at her, hitting a support pillar of the residence.

The man fled the scene and a short time later turned himself in to police.

He has since been charged with recklessly endangering serious harm, aggravated assault, damage to property, drink driving, and going armed with an offensive weapon.

He was remanded overnight and was expected to appear in the Alice Springs Local Court on Monday.

Detectives from Southern Crime are investigating the incident and urge anyone with information to make contact on 131 444.
