A group of finalists representing some of the most dedicated and talented performers in the sporting space have been selected for the 2025 Northern Territory Sport Awards.

The awards celebrate the achievements of the Territory’s sporting community, covering a range of sports and roles including volunteering, sport safety, coaching and breakout performances.

More than 80 nominations were received for the 2025 awards showcasing the exceptional sporting talent of the NT, with 26 finalists selected across nine categories.

Alannah Joyce, winner of the 2024 Sportsperson of the Year, has been named a finalist in the category for the third year in a row.

The judo star continues to achieve at the top level of the sport nationally and continues to make a name for herself whenever she competes.

She will be up against 2024 2024 Junior Sportsperson of the Year Macey Sheridan, who at just 14 made history at the 2024 Country Swimming Championships, winning 12 gold medals and earning the title of Swimmer of the Meet.

Macey is the first NT swimmer selected for the Australian Flippers Squad and is considered a future national team contender.

Marc Woods has been named a finalist in Sportsperson of the Year and Masters Sportsperson of the Year.

Woods defied expectations by finishing first overall in the West Macs Monster Sonder Ultra, one of Australia’s most challenging ultra-trail races, at more than 50 years of age.

His endurance and perseverance in the grueling 231km race demonstrate his remarkable resilience and athleticism, proving age is no barrier to sporting excellence.

People, Sport and Culture minister Jinson Charls, said “sport is an integral part of the Northern Territory, not just in competition, but in bringing people together”.

“These awards shine a light on the dedication and talent of our athletes, coaches, and volunteers who make our sporting landscape so strong,” he said.

Other finalists represent a wide range of sports, with categories recognising junior and masters athletes, top teams, local performances, coaching excellence, officiating, volunteering and contributions to sports safety.

The 2025 NT Sports Awards will be held on March 29 at DoubleTree by Hilton Esplanade Darwin with tickets are now available for purchase via Sticky Tickets.
