DARWIN’S most glamourous took to the Darwin Turf Club on Saturday for one of the fanciest nights of the racing calendar.
The Darwin Cup Gala Ball welcomed more than 1300 people on the lawn of the Turf Club for a four-course meal and entertainment under the stars.
The sold-out event was attended by locals and visitors alike, many of whom came up from the south to celebrate the Cup Carnival.

Chris and Kathy Barille made the trip up from Melbourne especially for the carnival, with a tour group called Australian Racing Tours.
“There are 69 of us here,” Mrs Barille said.
“They’ve taken us everywhere — we’ve seen jumping crocs and Litchfield and the Humpty Doo Pub.”
The couple were in attendance of the Palmerston Sprint earlier in the day and were excited to head along to Cup Day on Monday.
The crowd were entertained by a number of musical performances, including a Beatles tribute band and the winner of the Pitch Perfect singing competition Emmanuela Valasia.
