A Karama bottle shop worker has been allegedly threatened with a knife – 24 hours after a service station employee was stabbed in the Red Centre.

Police said they first received reports of the alleged robbery about 7.45pm on Monday at the Cellarbrations liquor store at Karama Shopping Plaza on Kalymnos Drive.

NT Police in a statement alleged a young man reportedly entered the bottle shop and threatened a staff member with a knife before stealing a quantity of cash.

Security staff then attended the shop with the offender and a second man fleeing on foot in the direction of Robyn Leslie park on Koolinda Crescent.

Phillip Randel Maurice Parry, left, was charged with murder over the April 23 death of 71-year-old Nightcliff Friendly Grocer owner Linford Feick.

Strike Force Trident later located and arrested a 17-year-old boy, who is expected to be charged on Tuesday.

Police said the second man was not charged.

“Further investigation determined the second male was not inside the store at the time of the incident, and there is insufficient evidence to charge him,” a police spokeswoman said.

Those with information can call police on 131 444 and quote reference P25116385.

Opposition leader Peter Dutton was at the Karama Shopping Plaza on Saturday where he met with frustrated small business owners who have expressed concerns on crime.

The Cellarbrations incident comes less than a week after Nightcliff Friendly Grocer owner Linford Feick was allegedly murdered while attempting to stop shoplifting.

An 18-year-old man has been charged and faced court in Darwin on Monday.

The store’s staff were also on Monday forced to evict a group of attempted thieves.

The incident at Cellarbrations is not related.

In another unrelated incident in Alice Springs on April 27, a service station worker at Sadadeen was allegedly stabbed by an alleged assailant after the worker tried to stop them from stealing.

The 26-year-old was allegedly punched in the head by one of the alleged thieves, while another attacked him with an “edged weapon”.

Police have not arrested the pair connected to the Sadadeen robbery, and have urged locals not to approach the pair if sighted.
