A Vietnamese eatery, Australasia’s largest body piercing specialist and an award-winning bakery are lining up for spots at Casuarina Square.

Following the recent departures of two popular outlets from the centre, owners Sentinel Property Group have announced Barra Bahn Mi and SkinKandy are opening, with five-year tenancies.

As well as that, popular Coolalinga bakehouse brand Scroll Time Bakery and Cafe are also preparing to open in the food court.

Located near Coles, Barra Bahn Mi’s outlet will serve up baguettes and other popular Vietnamese cuisine while SkinKandy will be located near Lorna Jane, City Beach and Big W.

To make room for the new outlet, jewellery and accessories store Lovisa moved from the SkinKandy site into a store opposite the Body Shop on a renewed five-year lease.

First opened in 2010, there are now more than 80 SkinKandy outlets in Australia and New Zealand.

Lovisa can be found in more than 45 countries, with more than 900 stores globally.

Scroll Time owner Cherry Angcon said her and her husband Emman were keen to take their popular pies, rolls and scrolls closer to town.

The bakery recently won best sausage roll and best specialty pie at the NT Baking show.

“Emman bakes the pies and I bake the scrolls,” Cherry said.

“We try to (incorporate) flavours like Vegemite that have an Australian taste to them.”

Sentinel national retail leasing manager Victoria Chrismas said Barra Bahn Mi and SkinKandy were tremendous new outlets for the centre.

“It’s exciting to welcome these new tenants and we hope to announce some more businesses coming to Casuarina in the near future,” she said.

The new stores come as Boost Juice Bars and T2 Tea shut their Casuarina outlets.

A T2 Tea spokeswoman said the group made the “difficult decision to close after “carefully reviewing our overall business operations.

“While this store provided great value to many, we’re always evaluating how we can best serve our customers and continue growing,” the spokesperson said.

“As part of this process, we sometimes adjust our store locations to focus on areas where we can provide the best possible service and experiences.

“We hope we can return to the neighbourhood in the future.”

In other Casuarina Square news, former centre manager Polly Lamond has been seconded to work as new NT Chief Minister Lia Finocchiaro’s deputy chief of staff.

In a post on LinkedIn, she said she was “parking the trolley” after 16 years in retail property.
