New TV show set in FNQ to boost tourism

Filming is under way for a TV show set in tropical Far North Queensland to showcase Cairns, Port Douglas and the “beauty” of the wet season.

Filming is underway for a new TV show set in tropical Far North Queensland to showcase Cairns and Port Douglas, and the “beauty” of the wet season.

The TV show, Adventure All Stars LEGENDS, is a three-part television series which sees a total of 36 Australians travel to multiple exotic destinations for “a trip of a lifetime.”

The cast will be surprised with activities in each location, including river tubing, Indigenous experiences, bungy jumping, white water rafting and exploring the reef, with all proceeds from the TV shows going to a selection of charities.

Filming will start at Port Douglas this week and in Cairns from the February 13.

Tourism Tropical North Queensland CEO Mark Olsen said the Adventure All Stars cast would be showcasing the best activities to do during summer in the tropics.

“Over the next fortnight while they are in region we will see some great publicity through social media with the cast sharing photos of white water rafting in the rainforest, snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef and fishing for barramundi,” he said

“Adventure All Stars will be broadcast later in the year when people will be thinking about where they might holiday in summer and we want them to see how much fun it can be in Tropical North Queensland.

“We have received strong support from the industry for this production which will showcase 14 products in the region.”

Adventure All Stars executive producer Troy Gray said a TV show donating to charity was a rarity.

“We are creating television history by raising millions of dollars and the number of charities is record breaking,” he said.

“Unlike other TV shows, none of our cast receive an appearance fee and all net proceeds are gifted.

“Adventure All Stars is a groundbreaking travel show promoting incredible destinations to a global audience – filmed and presented as socially positive, harmonious, and visually spectacular television content.”

The show is scheduled to run in the later half of 2023, with proceeds being donated to charities such as Headspace, Animal Welfare League QLD, Blue Tree Project and Great Lakes Women’s Shelter.

A combined 31 charities will receive a donation as part of the proceeds of the show, estimated to be over $9m.

Mr Gray said the cast wasn’t selected randomly.

“Prior to production, each of the LEGENDS cast members raised funds for their nominated

Australian charity – and their reward is a starring role in this groundbreaking television

event,” he said.

“This TV series allows viewers the opportunity to experience incredible destinations through the eyes of an engaging and socially conscious television cast.”
