New partner, new name for Top End Supercars Indigenous Round

An NT-based business is set to partner with the Top End’s most popular Supercars event. Find out when the action kicks off.

The Repco Supercars championship has a new sponsor hitting the raceway in 2023.

Newly established Northern Territory-based licenced wagering service provider Betr is the new naming rights partner for the championship’s most popular round, the Darwin Triple Crown, for 2023 and 2024.

The Betr Darwin Triple Crown will take place at the Hidden Valley Raceway from June 16 to 18 next year.

Major Events Minister Paul Kirby said the fan-favourite round was one of the biggest events on the Territory calendar, with 40,000 attendees in 2022.

“As well as a packed program of fast and furious entertainment, the Darwin Triple Crown, as the official Supercars Indigenous Round, helps celebrate Aboriginal culture and the Larrakia land on which the event takes place,” he said.

“There is heaps for all ages to do and plenty of action in the lead-up to the big race weekend with the Night Transporter Convoy and driver signings.”

The event is a major economic benefit to the Territory and garnered a $28.4m stimulus in 2022.

This surpassed last year’s event which generated $23m.

Supercars fans visiting the Top End clocked more than 72,000 visitor nights in the Territory and 59.5 per cent said they were very likely to return in 2023.

Mr Kirby said more than half of the year’s attendees came from interstate.

“Aside from supporting local businesses in the tourism and hospitality industry, this event puts the Top End on the map as a world-class events destination,” he said.

“The Territory Labor Government is proud to support events like this, knowing the incredible benefits they provide for the Territory from a social and economic perspective.”

Betr CEO Andrew Menz said he was pleased to be supporting Northern Territory tourism through the partnership.

“We’re a proud Darwin-based business and are pleased to be able to extend

our contribution to the Territory in this way,” he said.

The Darwin Triple Crown 2023 program will be announced later this year, including the Australian Superbike Championship, the Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup, Aussie Racing Cars, and Combined Sedans.
