It’s the simmering dispute that’s the talk of the Eastern Suburb’s social set - a multi-millionaire, his sick wife, an interior designer and hundreds of thousands of dollars in missing money and furniture. Briana Domjen and Linda Silmalis report.

Multi-millionaire businessman Neville “Croaky” Crichton and his wife Nadi are involved in a simmering dispute with an Eastern Suburbs socialite and interior designer over a furniture order worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The couple enlisted the help of former friend and well-known interior designer Adriana Weiss to furnish their $45 million Harbour waterfront mansion at Point Piper earlier this year.

However as the months passed, the furniture order — rumoured to be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars — never arrived.

The luxury car imports tycoon, 74, and his wife, 40, soon learnt their experience was not an isolated occurrence, with other clients also understood to have been left out of pocket after dealings with Weiss.

It is understood the matter has been in mediation in recent weeks, with the two parties working to come to an agreement.

Weiss, whose current business is called BB partners, previously owned Benhamou Designs, which was wound up in March 2018.

Ms Weiss yesterday told The Sunday Telegraph the missing furniture was a result of “supplier issue.”

“I am very disappointed to have been in this situation, and in particular that we were let down by a third party.” she said.

“But am happy to have resolved matters with the Crichtons amicably. I have nothing but

the utmost respect and care for Nadi and Neville.”

However, it is understood the Crichtons have engaged a barrister to pursue legal options.

The Eastern suburbs mother is well known on the social circuit and is friends with “Aussie” John Symond’s wife Amber Symond, wealthy jeweller Alina Barlow and socialite Marly Boyd.

In 2013 Weiss was on the prestigious Gold Dinner charity committee.

The Crichtons, who purchased the home, which is next door to former Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull’s house, in 2017, were reluctant to comment on the stoush, however a spokesperson confirmed it was taking place.

“The Crichton’s were dealing with this particular designer and we understand they are working some issues out at the moment,” a spokesperson said.

“We also understand she has had previous clients who have been unhappy and product has never been delivered and funds were never returned.”

A source close to the pair said Neville is most concerned about what effect the ordeal will have on his wife’s health, with Nadi - formally “boutique directeur” at Christian Dior - currently battling Lyme disease.

“This has particularly taken a toll on Nadi who is suffering with Lyme disease and that’s what upsets Neville the most,” a friend who asked to remain anonymous said.

“The reason they went to refurnish the house was because Nadi didn’t really like Neville’s furnishing tastes as they were a bit woggy, so he got rid of all their furniture to make way for the new order.”

It is believe the couple, who tied the knot in 2017 with a $6 million wedding, has since enlisted the help of Blainey North, who is a popular interior designer within the eastern suburbs crowd.
