A highly-lauded worldwide dance collective will be one of the marquee events set to be a part of the upcoming North Australian Festival of Arts when it returns later this year.
The group, Netherlands dance collective ISH, fuses extreme sports such as BMX, Skateboarding and freestyle basketball with hip-hop, breakdancing, as well as instruments like the cello and violin, and will have two shows on October 2 and 3.
Having performed in front of audiences from Amsterdam to Sydney, ISH is ready to wow audiences in Townsville with their spectacle of adrenaline, rhythm and raw talent.
ISH director Marco Gerris said the group is excited to bring their show to Townsville.
“This show is a liberating and uplifting experience,” Mr Gerris said.
“We are thrilled to share our passion with Townsville and be part of a festival that celebrates bold artistic expression in every form.”
Artistic Director of NAFA, Kyle Page said the event is more than just a performance.
“It’s an opportunity for our community to connect with world class culture and see what’s possible when creative ambition meets real investment,” Mr Page said.
ISH will also be holding workshops during their time in Townsville, hoping to inspire young performers and unlock new creative energy across the city. No dates have been set for the workshops, but will be announced closer to the festival.
NAFA returns to Townsville, running from September 24 to October 12. More than 400 performances across music, theatre, dance, cabaret, comedy and circus to name a few, with a full program to be released on July 4.
