VicRoads has begun clearing a backlog of more than 1000 drivers licence and learner permit tests in Greater Geelong after appointments reopened last week.
There are currently around 1500 drivers who have had their licence tests postponed due to COVID-19 in Geelong.
VicRoads has begun re-booking and conducting the appointments, which include 400 drive tests, and around 1100 learners or hazards tests.
After being suspended in early August, driving tests resumed in Geelong from last Monday in the wake of eased restrictions across regional Victoria.
Re-booking of postponed tests would be prioritised, with new appointments made available once the backlog is cleared, which VicRoads expects to be in November.
It comes after testing briefly resumed in June when restrictions eased, before being suspended again in August.
In late March, when licence testing was first suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic, about 4300 licensing appointments were postponed across Greater Geelong.
The Department of Transport has been increasing testing capacity across regional centres in order to work through the postponed appointments faster.
It is also exploring options to increase access to online registration and licencing services, which includes learner and hazard perception tests.
