The girl was found before 7pm on Sunday after police put out a public appeal for information.
Concerns had been held for her welfare as she suffers a number of medical conditions.
Victoria Police set up a command post at the Barwon River along Gundog Lane, an area the young girl was known to frequent.
Waurn Ponds acting sergeant Sean Coffey said April went missing having been last seen at 8.30am on Sunday morning.
“There is a concern in regards to her welfare,” he said.
Family were concerned for April as she may be disorientated and suffers from a number of medical conditions.
“We have got some concerns in regards to her health because she is on medication for high-functioning disabilities,” Acting Sgt Coffey said.
Search crews focused on both sides of the Barwon River on Sunday afternoon, with SES boats patrolling the water and the rail tracks.
