Geelong’s pets set for paw-fect five-star Uber treatment

Your next Uber may have a stash of treats available for your furry friend, who can now get a paw-fect five-star treatment as they ride along to catch up with their pals.

Uber announces ride sharing option for pets

The furry friends of Geelong have a new transport option.

After a successful trial in Sydney and Brisbane, Uber Pet is launching today in multiple Australian cities, including Geelong.

Uber Pet is specifically designed to give pet lovers peace of mind that their much-loved companions will be welcomed along for a comfortable and reliable ride.

The service is available as a separate product in the Uber app.

Riders can request the Uber Pet product to be matched with a driver who is eligible and willing to transport them and their furry family member.

Uber Australia and New Zealand general manager Dom Taylor said the response to the Uber Pet trial had been “incredibly positive”.

“It was clear that for many pet owners, especially those without their own car, simple things like taking their pet to the vet or visiting friends and family could be a real challenge,” Mr Taylor said.

“Based on the feedback from riders, most were using Uber Pet to take their pet to an unexpected vet visit or just to the park, especially during lockdown.

“Having the option of taking an Uber with your pet is a great win for pet owners – and it’s a great win for pets.”
