FORMER model and I’m a Celebrity TV star Tziporah Malkah has not attended her second court appearance on assault charges — and an arrest warrant will be activated if she misses court again.
On Tuesday, Malkah did not appear at the Victor Harbor Magistrates Court, south of Adelaide, for her scheduled hearing.
The court was told Malkah had sent an email earlier in the morning to explain neither she nor her lawyer would be attending.
Magistrate David Whittle excused their non attendance but ordered Malkah be arrested if she did not appear before him next month.
Malkah, 44, formerly of Port Elliot, was previously known as Kate Fischer. She now resides in Sydney.
She was arrested in January and charged with biting her then-partner, Guy Vasey, and assaulting three SA Police officers during an incident at the home they shared.
Malkah, who starred in the hit movie Sirens, was further charged with resisting the police officers, and with disorderly behaviour.
She denied the allegations on social media - claiming she had been mistreated by police following her arrest - and outside court following her first appearance in February.
“What I can say is that I’m a woman who stands up for herself these days … I’ve been bullied a lot, particularly in relationships,” she told reporters.
“I don’t deny fighting for myself, and I don’t deny standing up for myself.”
The incident brought an end to Malkah’s relationship with Mr Vasey, which dated back to their teenage years and pre-dated her engagement to media magnate James Packer.
She and Mr Vasey had clashed before, on social media, in a highly publicised exchange of swipes.
On Tuesday, police prosecutors told the court they had been in communication with Malkah’s lawyer.
They consented to adjourning the case, saying it was “likely” she would enter pleas to the charges at the next hearing.
Mr Whittle remanded Malkah on continuing bail until May.
