Two new coronavirus cases in Greater Geelong

Greater Geelong has recorded a small rise in new cases, while active cases remained steady at 50 for the municipality.

Greater Geelong has recorded two new coronavirus cases, while active cases remained steady at 50 for the municipality.

No new cases were reported for Colac Otway or the Surf Coast on Tuesday, and those areas had 11 and three active cases respectively.

Golden Plains and Queenscliffe remained free of active cases.

There were four inpatients with coronavirus at Geelong hospital on Tuesday.

There were 70 new coronavirus cases reported statewide, and five additional deaths.

Two of the deaths occurred prior to Monday – the retrospective reports are due to amended reporting obligations for aged care facilities and data reconciliation work.

All five of the deaths reported on Tuesday were linked to known outbreaks in aged care facilities.

Victoria’s coronavirus death toll stood at 570.
