Many Gold Coast Titans dads who are stuck in home isolation throughout the footy season, only leaving to play or train. Here’s how Jarrod Wallace is spending Father’s Day.

JARROD Wallace’s dream Father’s Day would be swapping a football for tiaras and being bossed around by his three daughters.

But instead of the usual fish and chips by the beach, the 29-year-old Gold Coast Titans star will eat bacon and eggs alone in his home’s spare bedroom.

It will be the same for many of the Gold Coast Titans dads who are stuck in home isolation throughout the footy season, only leaving to play or train.

“We tried coming up with some things I could do but there’s absolutely nothing we can do together,” Wallace said.

“I’m not allowed out. I’m not around the (the girls). I’m in the spare room and have to say hello to everyone from a distance.

“It has been hard. It’s been tough on the girls. But there’s a lot of boys (fellow teammates) who are doing it. It’s a real team effort at the moment.”

Wallace has three daughters – Kennedy, 1, Peyton 5, and Lara, 7.

Growing up in a boy-dominated household, he had imagined it would be the same with his own kids.

“I think I always knew I would have three or maybe four kids. Back in the day I thought I’d only have a family of boys,” he said.

“I came from such a boy family. It was always about football and boys ruling the family.

“Now I have three girls, I’m 100 per cent a girl-dad.

Jarrod Wallace marries Channel 7’s Courtney Thorpe

“I hope if I do have another (child) it’s a girl. I just don’t know what I’ll do if it’s a boy. There’s a few little boys who run around the club and are so full-on it almost scares me thinking about having a boy.

“I love my little girl gang. They rule the house. I get bossed around by a one year old.”

Wallace and wife Courtney began dating in 2017 and tied the knot in May last year.

They had their first child together, Kennedy Grace, just over a year ago in May 2019.

Mrs Wallace, who was crowned Miss World Australia 2014 and now is a TV presenter with Channel 7, says she is “grateful” for having a baby with Jarrod.

“One of the first things I said to Jarrod was ‘do you want more kids because I want three of my own’,” she said.

“Jarrod is so incredible. I’m so grateful I had a baby with him. He’s honestly the most hands-on dad.

“He’s very much a big part of their lives and he wants to know everything that’s going on with them. You can see that with him – just the love he has for them is really just so beautiful.

“Probably (Jarrod’s) biggest struggle is becoming a dad to a new born again. It’s the lack of sleep and trying to perform well at football.

“I know he had a bit of a rough start to the season this year and was copping a lot of criticism.

“One of the things we changed was to make sure he had enough time to relax and more time to sleep. I think it’s made a world of a difference.”

Once the NRL footy season is over, Wallace plans on “taking the girls camping and spending as much time as I can with them”.
