Telstra Best of Business Awards 2024: national winners announced

A sportwear business with A-list clients, and a female owned infant formula company are among the top seven Aussie small and medium businesses leading the way across the country. See the full list of winners.

LSKD founder and CEO Jason Daniel takes us inside the business

Multimillion-dollar sportswear company LSKD was crowned Business of the Year last night at the 2024 Telstra Best Business Awards in Sydney.

The brand, founded by Queenslander Jason Daniel, counts A-listers Zac Efron, Hailey Bieber, Hilary Duff, Vanessa Hudgens and model Emily Ratajkowski as fans and has partnered with Australian charities including National Breast Cancer Foundation, Cystic Fibrosis Queensland and the Leukaemia Foundation.

LSKD, coined from Mr Daniel’s childhood nickname “loose kid”, began as a schoolboy’s venture in Logan, Qld, growing to a reported $80 million global enterprise, with plans to hit $100 million in annual revenue this year.

Telstra Business Group Executive Amanda Hutton said LSKD emerged the winner from more than 22,000 nominations of small and medium-sized businesses nationwide.

“In speaking to the judges, it was clear that LSKD is committed to the fitness community it serves, fostering an inclusive and high performing culture that comes through in the quality of its products,” she said.

“We’re thrilled to see and support the team’s continued growth.”

An additional six businesses were recognised as National Winners across seven award categories.

Female owned infant formula company mumamoo from South Australia won the Accelerating Women category. The business expanded from an exclusively SA customer base to selling its Australian made, owned and manufactured product in more than 800 stores nationally.

New South Wales’ cultural awareness training and allyship accreditation provider Evolve Communities won the Building Communities category.

Tasmania’s Earworx, specialising in removing impacted ear wax using dry and effective microsuction technology took out the award for Championing Health.

In the Embracing Innovation category, Transmutation, a craft-sized recycling and manufacturing business from South Australia, was acknowledged for innovatively repurposing waste.

The winner of the Indigenous Excellence category was Eather Group, an Indigenous-led business based in NSW that concentrates on establishing a circular economy within civil, construction, and waste-to-resource sectors.

Lyka Pet Food, based in NSW, secured the Promoting Sustainability category with its innovative approach to pet food. Their triumph comes from delivering fresh, human-grade wholefood meals nationwide, emphasising the health of Australian dogs and sustainable practices.

“It has been an absolute pleasure to recognise Australia’s thriving small and medium-sized businesses in the 2024 Telstra Best of Business Awards. The opportunity to hear how some of Australia’s outstanding businesses have been adapting and excelling at meeting their community’s evolving needs, has been truly inspiring,” Ms Hutton said.
