A 17-year-old boy has died after he was struck by a falling tree branch while working with his dad.

A 17-year-old boy has died after he was struck by a falling tree branch.

Emergency services were called after reports the teenager had been felling trees with his father in Dover on the southwest coast of Tasmania when he was injured shortly after 4pm on Sunday.

Paramedics treated the teen after he had been struck by a falling branch during the incident but sadly he died at the scene.

His father received non-life-threatening injuries.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Tasmania Police are continuing their investigations.

“Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and loved ones at this difficult time,” a police statement read.
