Gold Coast business owner to trailer thief: I’ll give you a job

A stolen work trailer was the final kick in the guts of the toughest year yet for Nerang this man, but his surprising response will warm your heart.

A STOLEN work trailer was the final kick in the guts of the toughest year yet for a Gold Coast man - but he’s offering the thief a job if it is returned.

Nerang’s Dylan Thomas - having watched the collapse of his lawn-mowing business because of COVID-19 - decided to pick himself up by launching a home and driveway pressure-washing business.

But just three weeks into the job, the 33-year-old go-getter discovered the trailer which he used to advertise his business had been stolen on Wednesday.

Instead of turning to anger, Mr Thomas, who believes the world needs a little more kindness, is offering whoever took the trailer a job.

“I have faith people are good, and whoever stole my trailer only did it out of desperation – I feel for you,” he posted.

“If returned I’ll give you a job - how about that?”

Mr Thomas told the Bulletin he believed after the year that was, people needed to go out of their way to be kind to one another.

“They are obviously having a harder time than I am to take something like that,” he said.

“With the way the world is going, why not help out someone who is desperate?”

The 8x5 trailer was locked and parked near Norco Arundel in order to drum up some work for Mr Thomas.

“I actually laughed when I saw it was gone,” he said. “The locks had clearly been smashed.

FULL DIGITAL ACCESS: JUST $5 A MONTH FOR THE FIRST THREE MONTHS

“I should have expected it I guess, but it is a hand-drawn sign for goodness sake, obviously having it stolen will be a hit to my pocket.

“It has been a tough year — my lawn-mowing business had to close up because there wasn’t enough demand during corona.

“I wanted to get it going again along with the power washing, so I could always use an extra set of hands.

“Your reaction is the only thing you can control in a situation like this, so if you are out there please get in touch, I am sure we can help each other out.”

Mr Thomas can be found through his Facebook page ‘Gold Coast pressure washing’.
