A secluded Surf Coast camping ground is set to undergo a $750,000 upgrade under new plans.
The Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority has submitted a planning application to the Surf Coast Shire Council for the redevelopment of Queens Park campground in Lorne.
Works will involve the refurbishment of an existing toilet block and the construction of a new camp kitchen.
The new toilet block is set to improve amenity functionality and accessibility, including alterations to allow the inclusion of an all-abilities rest room facility and family bathroom.
The new camp kitchen facility hopes to improve amenity functionality, site aesthetics and accessibility, planning application reads.
The facility will include a combined closed kitchen and open pergola/deck area, allowing multiple users to occupy the space at once.
Queens Park – located 2km south of the Lorne town centre at Armytage Street – is a covered hillside situated above the Lorne Pier offering extensive views of Point Grey.
Council is set to make a decision on the application at a later date.
