A man accused of throwing rocks onto a busy highway before carjacking a woman and colliding with several other motorists on the Tasman Highway earlier this month has entered pleas in court. >>

A NORTH Hobart man accused of carjacking on a busy Hobart highway earlier this month has entered not guilty pleas in the Hobart Magistrates Court.

Paul Jason Berry, 48, has been charged with carjacking and two counts of attempted carjacking after an incident on November 4 on the Tasman Highway at Cambridge.

Police previously said about 7.05am, multiple calls were received in relation to a man in the northbound lanes of the Tasman Highway throwing rocks at vehicles and running in among the traffic.

Police will allege Mr Berry collided with a number of vehicles during the incident while driving a blue Mazda he had forcibly taken control of from a female motorist.

A second vehicle also rolled, while trying to avoid the man and vehicles.Before Magistrate Jackie Hartnett on Thursday, Mr Berry pleaded not guilty to all three charges and has been committed to stand trial in the Supreme Court of Tasmania.

He was remanded in custody to appear for a directions hearing on February 1.
