IT was “fur” the love of charity, that one of the smallest dogs in Cairns has received a very large prize.

Pretzel the chihuahua was named the Smallest Dog in the RSPCA’s Million Paws Walk along the Cairns Esplanade yesterday, which attracted dozens of furry friends.

Pretzel’s owner, Edmonton mum Tamasyn Smith, said her very happy dog won a bottle of shampoo, which was larger than her pet.

“It was a great walk, we really enjoyed it,” she said.

“Most of the dogs seemed to be well-behaved.

“The dogs dressed up a bit, and it was just a very well organised event.”

The walk, held nationally, is an annual fundraiser for the RSPCA to allow the organisation to continue its work preventing animal cruelty.
