AUSTRALIAN surfer Koby Abberton, a friend of Schapelle Corby’s family, has given more insight into how she is feeling after she left jail today.
On Melbourne’s Fox FM Breakfast show, hosts Fifi Box and Dave Thornton spoke to Abberton who is based in Bali, and is friends with Schapelle’s sister Mercedes and brother Mick.
Abberton revealed he did not think she would be coping well at the moment and that she will not want to go outside.
“I don’t think she’s going to be coping that well as it...I don’t think she’ll want to go outside to tell you the truth”.

Abberton, who is a member of Australian surf gang the Bra Boys, also urged Australians to get behind Schapelle and her family and argued that her time in jail was “terrible”.
He said he spoke to Mercedes and Mick yesterday.
“I’m really good friends with Mick and Mercedes and I spoke to them yesterday and they sound really happy and really excited,” he said.
When asked if he thought Schapelle would be safe while living in Bali, Abberton confirmed she would be protected.
“Umm...her safety? No. Australia’s worse in that regard, you know what I mean, you’re allowed to do anything in Australia, where in Indonesia, security people can be at the villa. It’s really safe over there, it’s fine,” he said.
But just because she may be safe, Abberton said it did not mean Schapelle was coping.
“But ah I mean I don’t think she’s going to be coping that well as it is anyway, you know what I mean like, I don’t think she’ll want to go outside to tell you the truth,” he added.
“I just want to say I wish them the best, and everyone’s got to remember you know, they’re a good Aussie family in the end, caught in bad situation and ten years is long enough for a murderer in my eyes, so ten years for weed, it’s just terrible. I hope Australia backs them...because they are in a vulnerable state and they’re good people, they really are.”
