CAIRNS’ newest hotel is on an upward trajectory, adding another three awards to its trophy cabinet.

Crystalbrook Collection’s Riley Hotel, on the site of the gutted and revamped old Rydges Tradewinds on the Esplanade, won best environmental award and best marketed hotel 100+ employees at the Queensland Hotels Association Awards in Brisbane.

At the weekend, the business was named best luxury new resort in Australia and Oceania at the World Luxury Hotel Awards.

Crystalbrook Collection Cairns area manager and Riley general manager Joel Gordon said the accolades were appreciated.

“We are absolutely thrilled. Congratulations to the entire team,” he said.

Crystalbrook Collection interim CEO and group hotels director Geoff York said the wins aligned with the company’s values.

“Launching a new brand is a big opportunity and the team has done a phenomenal job achieving great marketing awareness in such a short length of time,” he said.

“It’s also an honour to be acknowledged for our environmental positioning and practices. We endeavour to always think how we can work responsibly and embrace environmental change to enhance the quality of our guests’ experiences.

This month Crystalbrook Collection acquired the Byron at Byron and pledged to remove all plastic water bottles from the property as well as introducing their wooden key cards, a stamp recognised across all their hotels.

Crystalbrook Collection will launch two new properties in Cairns, Bailey in November followed by Flynn in early 2020, as well as launching Newcastle’s first five-star hotel, Kingsley, late next year.

Last month, Riley was also recognised for its environmental program with an award at the 2019 Hotel Management Awards in Sydney.

Crystalbrook Collection won the Cairns Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards’ Marketing and Communications Excellence Award earlier this year and was a finalist for the Mumbrella Marketing Team of the Year category.
