Queensland Reds recruit Karmichael Hunt buys $1.9m house near home ground

A QUEENSLAND sport star has just picked up a $1.9 million luxury home near his new home ground.

CODE convert Karmichael Hunt has shortened his commute to Queensland Reds training after yesterday picking up a luxury house at auction in Brisbane’s inner city.

Hunt was one of eight registered bidders who competed for the five-bedroom home on Saturday morning, and bought the property under the hammer for $1.88 million.

The Hendra home has a range of luxury features including a two-storey wall of glass that runs along the rear of the home and a well-lit lap pool.

The kitchen has a chef’s oven, coffee machine and butler’s pantry big enough for the fridge.

It sits on a 759sq m block of land with plenty of room for Hunt, wife Emma Harding and their two young daughters.

The location in Hendra means Hunt is only a short drive away from Ballymore in Herston where he has started training with the Queensland Reds.

Hunt was recruited by the Reds after announcing earlier this year that he would not renew his contract with the AFL’s Gold Coast Suns.

The property is a change of style from Hunt’s current unassuming Calamvale home, which he built after buying the land in 2007 for $260,000.

Hunt still owns the property and it has not yet been listed for sale.

Ray White Ascot’s Leigh Kortlang, who marketed the Hendra property, said she could confirm the property had sold at auction after strong competition between bidders.

“It was a cracking auction with buyers drawn to stylish design and absolute luxury of the place,” she said.

The sport star declined to comment on the sale.
