A Powercor spokesman said crews restored power to 2100 homes and businesses after an outage occurred on Monday afternoon.

As of 7pm Monday, crews were still working to restore power to the remaining 3000 customers off supply in the Torquay and Jan Juc areas.

The suspected cause of the outage is a cable fault.

Remaining customers were expected to be restored over the course of the evening, the spokesman said.

“We thank customers for their patience as our crews work to restore power as safely and as quickly as possible,” he said.

“We are continuing to keep customers updated on restoration times via SMS alerts and our website.”

“Powercor customers can get text message alerts with information about power outages affecting their property and restoration times by signing up at Powercor.com.au.

“Customers can also call us anytime on 132412 for more information.”
