Police respond to a Melbourne school over toy gun reports
Officers have descended on a school in Melbourne’s southeast after reports of a gun on the grounds, which forced the school into lockdown this afternoon.

A school in Melbourne’s southeast went into lockdown this afternoon, with police arresting a 15-year-old boy for possessing an imitation firearm.
Officers descended on a Beaconsfield school but a police spokeswoman said: “There is no active threat to the school community.”
The school went into lockdown after a teen boy brought a toy gun onto the grounds.
The 15-year-old was arrested and is assisting police with their inquiries.
The investigation is ongoing.
