Police are investigating a suspicious house fire in Norlane on Thursday night.

Fire Rescue Victoria and CFA crews were called to the Wisteria Grove incident just before 11:40pm, after a caller to triple-0 reported flames coming from the house.

A FRV spokeswoman said about eight firefighters responded to the house fire.

“Firefighters arrived on scene in six minutes and wearing breathing apparatus, brought the fire under control in four minutes,” the spokeswoman said.

“Nobody was inside at the time of the fire, and firefighters handed the scene over to police for further investigation.”

Victoria Police confirmed Geelong Crime Investigation Unit detectives were investigating following a small house fire.

“Investigators were called to the fire on Wisteria Grove around 11.40pm,” a Victoria Police spokesman said.

“The exact circumstances of the fire are unknown but it is being treated as suspicious at this stage.”
