Work is under way establishing how many residents at a Highton aged care home struck by a coronavirus outbreak have recovered.
Thirty-one Opal South Valley residents, including seven who have died, have tested positive for coronavirus since late last month.
Twenty Opal staff members have also been diagnosed with COVID-19.
“We are working with Barwon Health to establish how many residents who had tested positive have now recovered,” an Opal Aged Care spokeswoman said.
“This assessment is done by the experts at Barwon Health on a case by case basis and takes into account a range of individual factors.
“Re-testing of our negative residents continues, and Barwon Health is carrying out ‘surveillance testing’ of team members who are working in the care home.”
The spokeswoman said all negative residents, as well as team who were working in the home last Friday, were tested that day and all received a negative result.
“Barwon Health has advised that all negative residents will be tested again this week,” the spokeswoman said.
“What this means is that we continue to exercise the strictest measures to keep our residents and team safe.”
