LATEST, 7.37AM: NORTHGATE shopping centre is open again after emergency services determined there was an electrical fault in the centre.
Fire services are investigating and there was no disruption to traffic.
EARLIER, 7.18AM: POLICE have advised the incident at Northgate is ongoing and there have been no further updates from crews on the scene.
The streets adjoining Northgate shopping centre have not been affected and traffic is still flowing as normal.
EARLIER 7.03AM: POLICE and fire services are responding to reports of smoke at Northgate shopping centre in Glenorchy.
The Tasmania Fire Service website indicates three heavy pumpers are on scene at a ‘structure fire’ that started at 6.25am.
Police reports state emergency services are responding to smoke at the shopping centre, which will be closed until further notice.
